President Kovind, PM Modi and Amit Shah pay tribute to Atal Bihari on first death anniversary at Sadaiv Atal

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday paid tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his first death anniversary at his memorial, Sadaiv Atal. President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national working president JP Nadda and other leaders of the party paid tributes to Vajpayee at his memorial.

The BJP stalwart’s daughter, Namita Kaul Bhattacharya, and granddaughter Niharika also paid tribute on his first death anniversary.

The founder member of the party died last year on August 16 at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) after a prolonged illness at the age of 93.

“his (Atal Bihari Vajpayee) thoughts and words live on. We will always cherish his contribution to India’s development.”Modi said in a tweet while remembering Atal Bihari.

” It is a coincidence that today I came for International Army Scout Masters Competition in Jaisalmer & today it is the first death anniversary of #AtalBihariVajpayee. So, I felt I should pay tribute to him on the land of Pokhran only”, said defence Minister Rajnath Singh while paying tribute to Vajpayee.

Vajpayee was born on December 25, 1924, and became a full-time worker in 1947 after joining the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as a teenager in 1939. His birthday, falls on 25 December, which is celebrated as ‘Good Governance Day’ by the saffron party. He was decorated with the Bharat Ratna in 2014. Vajpayee served as Prime Minister thrice, in 1996, and then for two terms between 1998 and 2004.
