Salute IAF Pilots: says Rahul Gandhi

Twelve days after the terror attack in Kashmir Valley Pulwama, India today carried out air strikes on a terror camp of Jaish-e Mohammed across the Line of Control.

Congress chief Rahul Gandhi set the ball rolling in the morning, tweeting, “I salute the pilots of the IAF”.

“We salute the @IAF_MCC for their consistent & determined effort to keep Indians safe. Jai Hind,” the Congress posted on its official Twitter handle.

Confirmation of the strikes came only after a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security.

“Indian aircrafts intruded from Muzafarabad sector. Facing timely and effective response from Pakistan Air Force released payload in haste while escaping which fell near Balakot. No casualties or damage,” Major General Asif Ghafoor, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the army, said in a tweet.

“Indian Air Force violated Line of Control Pakistan. Pakistan Air Force immediately scrambled. Indian aircraft gone back,” he tweeted.

National Conference chief Omar Abdullah tweeted, “Wow, if this is true this was not a small strike by any stretch of imagination but will wait for official word, should any be forthcoming.”

India has started its bid to isolate Pakistan diplomatically and allowances made for Pakistan in terms of trade have been scrapped. India recently withdrew the Most Favoured Nation or MFN status to Pakistan and imposed 200 per cent customs duties on goods from across  the border.

According to news agency ANI, IAF’s 12 Mirage 2000 fighter jets dropped over 1,000 kg laser guided bombs on at least three JeM terror camps in PoK. Initial reports say that around 300 terrorists have been killed in the strike.

On February 14, a suicide bomber drove an explosive-filled mini-van into a 78-vehicle convoy of the Central Reserve Police Force on the Jammu-Srinagar highway killing forty CRPF soldiers.
