BSF chief, Rajnath Singh hint at cross border action
On the 2-year anniversary of the surgical strike on terror launch pads in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Border Security Force (BSF) chief K.K. Sharma on Friday said, “we have taken sufficient action along the LoC to avenge the death of our soldier”. He did not go into the detail of the actions taken.
He was referring to the death of BSF head constable Narender Singh whose mutilated body was recovered from Pakistani territory across the Jammu border on September 18.
The BSF Chief further said, “We have reserved our right of retaliation and time. We have given tough and befitting replies, causing manifold damage. And we will do it again,” he said.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, speaking to reporters in Muzaffarnagar at the unveiling of Bhagat Singh’s statue, indicated about an India-led surgical strike being conducted on Pakistan.
In a video uploaded by NDTV, Rajnath Singh said, “Something has happened, I won’t reveal it now. Something big has happened. Trust me, something really big has happened two-three days ago. And you will also see what happens in future.”

BSF Chief said that since Imran Khan was elected the Prime Minister of Pakistan there has been more aggression on the border.
While providing details of the incident he said that Narender Singh had gone ahead of the fence along the International Border (IB) in the Ramgarh sector in Jammu to clear elephant grass. He went missing after his team came under heavy fire from Pakistan. His bullet-riddled body was retrieved ahead of the India-Pakistan fence after over six hours. He said that the killing was the work of Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT).
To ensure that the BSF search parties were not fired upon, the Indian side tried to contact Pakistan but there was no response from their side.
Army chief General Bipin Rawat recently said that the time was ripe for another surgical strike, according to NDTV. In an interview to India Today, the General said, “I believe there is a need for one more action (surgical strike). But I would not want to disclose how we want to do it.”
