India-China made constructive conclusion during border talks: Chinese official

On Monday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman, Geng  Shuang spoke on the border talks held between Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chine State Councilor Wang-Yi on November 24. He said that both sides reached on constructive and workable suggestions for peace and stability along the border.

This was the first border talk of Chinese Foreign Minister and State Councilor Wang-Yi with Indian NSA Ajit Doval. Yi became State Councilor early this year. Talks were held at Dujiangyan in southwestern Sichuan province.

Geng told during media briefing, “I want to highlight that the two sides on the issue of moving forward the border negotiations and on ensuring peace and stability and border cooperation, made some constructive, operable and forward looking suggestions. It can be said that in many areas the two sides share the common understanding”.

He said that talks were held in a very good atmosphere and India-China relations have made very positive progress under the guidance of President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Geng emphasized that under the current circumstances two sides will follow the guidance of the two state leaders’ enhanced mutual trust.

Geng said, “Meeting was held in a very good atmosphere. The two sides had a good talk. The two sides reached many forward looking, operable and workable conclusions”.

He said, “I want to emphasize that after the Wuhan summit between President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the bilateral relations have made very positive progress and reached a new stage of development”.

He added, “Under the current international circumstances, the strategic importance of bilateral relations is more prominent. So the two sides will follow the guidance of the two state leaders’ enhance strategic communication and political mutual trust”.

Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement, “Both sides will continue to advance the negotiation process of the special representatives’ mechanism; strive for an early settlement of the boundary question”.
