PoK a part of India, one day will have physical jurisdiction over it :External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar
External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) is part of India. “PoK is part of India and we expect one day that we will have physical jurisdiction over it,” S Jaishankar said.
“Our position on PoK [Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir) has always been and will always be very clear. PoK is part of India”, the minister added.
“With regard to Pakistan, issue is not Article 370 but Pakistan’s terrorists. We must make the world realise. Show me anywhere else in the world where any country conducts terrorism openly against its neighbour as part of what it considers its foreign policy,” EAM S Jaishankar said while addressing the press conference in New Delhi.
“We had to look at a variety of factors and see what’s important at this time to ascertain his well being. We thought ascertaining his well being is a priority issue at this point and we wanted to begin proceedings,” he further added.
“What is happening now in Sindh [Pakistan] is not the only thing which has happened in past 100 days. I think if there is a human rights audit today in this part of the world, I can pretty confidently assert who’ll come last in it. Regarding minorities in Pakistan, this isn’t a new thing. Here’s a country which is waxing eloquent about other nations. Look at their treatment of minorities, I think minority number has come down dramatically in the past 70 years to a point where they don’t even put it out publicly anymore,” S Jaishankar said about the minorities in Pakistan.
“It (Article 370) was a temporary provision which is not often used in the analysis of events… The provision had actually become dysfunctional. It was being arbitraged by some narrow set of people for their own gains. By doing so, they were impeding development and feeding a sense of separatism. The separatism was being utilised by Pakistan to carry out cross-border terrorism”, Jaishankar said while Defending the J&K move.
