For the first time Army offering jobs in military police to women

For the first time, army has issued an advertisement in newspapers for women into the military Police. The detailed notification of the application process can be found on the the official job portal of the Army i.e joinindianarmy.nic.in

This move came soon after the government announced that women would be introduced into the force in the “Personnel Below Officer Rank” (PBOR) category.

In order to qualify for the post, the women candidates need to qualify a Common Entrance Exam post which they will have to appear for the Physical Endurance Test(PET).

“Online registration will start today for the recruitment of women as jawans and the last date for it is June 8. The project was first mooted by Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat soon after he took charge of the force,” Army officials said.

According to the Indian Army website, “The Corps of Military Police is responsible for preserving “good order and discipline and to prevent breaches of the same by persons serving in or attached to the regular Army”.

“In a historic decision, Modi govt has decided to induct women, for the first time in Personnel Below Officer Rank, in corps of Military Police. It’s a huge step towards further empowering women and improving their representation in our armed forces,” BJP tweeted from their official handle.

As per government data, the Army has 3.80 per cent of its workforce as women, the Air Force has 13.09 per cent and the Navy six per cent.

Indian Army women recruitment : Eligibility Criteria

Education  : The candidates should be at least 10th pass or equivalent with 45 per cent aggregate score, and a minimum 33 per cent marks in each subject.

Age : The candidates must be at least 17 and a half-year-old at the time of application. The maximum age is 21.

Physical Requirement : The women candidate applying for the job must be at least 142 cm in height and should have a proportionate weight.

The candidates will have to first register themselves on the official  website www.joinindianarmy.nic.in, fill the form and upload the required documents as per the instructions listed on the official website.
