Hima Das returns to 400m run, wins fifth gold of month
Indian sprinter Hima Das returned to pet 400m run, as she continued her dream run by claiming fifth gold of the month July. She returned to the competition with a season-best time of 52.09 seconds.
Hima Das pocketed her fifth gokd medal when she ensured the podium finish at the Nove Mesto nad Metuji Grand Prix with a time of 52.09 seconds. However, she failed to qualify for the World Athletics Championships as the 400m qualification mark stands at 51.80 seconds.
In her first competition of 200m race of the year, she finished her way to gold at the Poznan Athletics Grand Prix in Poland on July at 23.65 while in her second competition she won 200m gold at the Kutno Athletics Meet on July 7 in Poland with a time of 23.97.
She won her third 200m gold at the Kladno Athletics Meet in Czech Republic with a time of 23.43 whereas she earned her fourth gold at the Tabor Athletics Meet in the same country.
The 19 year old sprinter earned praise from Sachin Tendulkar, PM Narendra Modi and President Ram Nath Kovind. They xpressed their admiration for her through twitter handles.
