Amit Shah: BJP committed to build Ram temple, Congress causing hurdles

Bhartiya Janta Party president Amit Shah was addressing a party workers meeting in New Delhi on Friday. On the Ram temple issue, he said that the BJP has always been committed to it. “BJP wants Ram Mandir to be constructed at the earliest. We are trying in the Supreme Court that the case reaches its conclusion but it is the Congress which is trying to create obstacles,” he said.

Shah, who was addressing thousands of BJP workers at the party’s two-day national council in New Delhi, said the parliamentary polls will be fight between two ideologies. He said the BJP stands for the poor whereas the opposition is getting together only for power.

Targeting the opposition, Shah said its proposed alliance has no nationwide relevance and the BJP had defeated each of them in 2014, claiming that the party is sure to come back to power with a bigger majority. It had won 282 of 543 seats in the last Lok Sabha polls.

The party has the “world’s most popular, visionary, transparent and hardworking” leader in Modi with the opposition having no match to him, he asserted, asking thousands of BJP delegates to go with the pledge of bringing the government back to power. That rival parties are joining hands against the BJP is their admission of Modi’s strength, he said.

Two ideologies are facing off during the polls. We stand for cultural nationalism and antyodaya (poor’s welfare). On the other hand, there is neither a leader not policy, only a disparate group of selfish parties brought together by their greed of power,” he said. He said rivals find it “impossible” to defeat Modi, who has emerged as the “nucleus” of politics like the Congress was for many decades, claiming that people stand behind the prime minister like a rock.

Accusing the Congress of creating hurdles in early resolution of the matter in the court, Shah asked the opposition party to make its stand clear on the matter. In presence of top party leaders at the convention including Modi, Shah said the BJP wants the issue to be resolved constitutionally.
