On Sunday, Syrian News agency SANA reported that Israel carried out a rare daylight air raid near Damascus International airport and most of the incoming hostile targets were destroyed by the Syrian air defence.
As reported by SANA Israel carried out another air raid overnight through air strikes, wave of missiles and guided bombs that was thwarted by Syrian air defence.
A Syrian military source told SANA, “at 01:10 o’clock (local time) on Monday, January 21, 2019, the Israeli enemy launched land and air strikes and through successive waves of guided missiles”.
The source added, “immediately our air defenses dealt with the situation and intercepted the hostile missiles, downing most of them before reaching their targets as they continue their heroic response to the aggression”.

On Monday morning Israeli military issued a statement warning that it has started striking Iranian military targets in Syria. The statement came hours after Israeli military claimed to intercept rocket came from Syria into territory of Golan Heights.
The statement added, “We have started striking Iranian Quds targets in Syrian territory. We warn the Syrian Armed Forces against attempting to harm Israeli forces or territory”.
After rare daylight air raids by Israel, SANA quoted, “Our air defense systems thwarted … an Israeli air aggression … and prevented it from achieving any of its goals”.
Russian defence control center told Interfax news agency that Syrian air defence intercepted and destroyed more than 30 Israeli missiles and guided bombs.
The fresh air strikes by Israel into Syrian territory came after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to continue attacking Iranian military advisors and weapons in Syria.
