As stated in our previous article on India-China all set to lead Africa – The Follow up to “India China relations all set to lead the world”. Here’s another follow up to the same.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping visited East African country Rwanda within a span of 24 hours while on their way to South Africa for BRICS summit. Chinese president Xi Jinping was in East African country from Sunday to Monday and Prime Minister Modi arrived in capital of Rwanda on Monday. Both India and China signed several bilateral cooperation documents on investment and development.

Playing down any India-China competition in Africa, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang said, “We noticed that on the same day, Prime Minister Modi also visited Rwanda and the two countries signed several bilateral cooperation agreements on investment and infrastructure. China and India are the two largest developing countries and also emerging markets. We both want to help and deepen cooperation with African nations. We are on the same page.”

Geng further said, “The cooperation between both countries is developing with sound momentum. We hope that both countries could continue to implement the consensus between the two leaders, explore other cooperation models like ‘China-India plus one’ or ‘China-India plus X’ so as to realize win-win cooperation for China and India and for the peace and stability in the region.”

India has extended $200 million credit line for development projects in Rwanda whereas China signed an agreement to provide $126 million for two road projects.

Geng said that both leaders are again set to meet on the sidelines of BRICS summit in South Africa.

India-China all set to lead Africa

As stated in our previous article on “India-China relations all set to lead the world”. Here’s another follow up to the same.

African continent is rich in culture and history with many natural resources like coal, oil, gold and diamond. Many powerful countries of the world have turned their attention towards Africa for centuries to acquire its natural resources. For the last few years, India and China have also been able to influence and engage with African countries. Where, India sees cultural prejudices with east African countries, there China has been engaging by funding for development of economically backward African countries.

Before going to the meeting of BRICS countries in South Africa at the end of the month, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit African countries Rwanda and Uganda. This is worth noticing here that Chinese President Xi Jinping will be on his visit to Rwanda during the same time period.

Mr.  Narendra Modi will be the first Prime Minister of India to visit Rwanda. Visit by Prime Minister of India and President of China to Rwanda, which is Africa’s one of the most disturbed backward country, at the same time, strengthens our earlier prediction that ‘India-China bond all set to lead the world’.

During his visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet President of Rwanda Paul Kagame and President of Uganda Yoweri Museveni and will sign some agreements with the these African countries.

Rwanda is facing ethnic violence between Hutu and Tutsi, followed by independence of Rwanda in 1962, where estimated 500,000 to 1,000,000 people have been killed in one of the bloodiest genocides in the human history and estimated 2,000,000 were displaced.

According to Reuters, China alone has given a loan of $3 billion to Uganda and discussions are undergoing for a loan of $2.3 billion more. China has also made it’s Naval base in Djibouti, at the horn of African continent.

Both India and China have promoted trade and Investment in the African continent during last few years, but China’s trade and investment is more than the double of  what India has.

With the growing influence of India and China in the African continent, Africa will get help in its economic development and get rid of decades old unrest and terrorism. Moreover, India-China will work together for the peace and prosperity of African countries and will utilize its resources for the development of African people.
