CR7 stops bus to say hello to a child with leukaemia who asked him for a hug

On the eve of the Portugal-Holland game which will decide the first Nations League winner, Cristiano Ronaldo stopped the national team bus to meet Eduardo Moreira, an 11 year-old who suffers from leukaemia.

In a video shared on twitter, you can see Cristiano walking towards the front of the bus. There, with a wide smile, he hugged Eduardo Moreira and took a photo with him. A day which the young boy will never forget.

Ronaldo and his squad were leaving a training session ahead of the UEFA Nations League finals against the Netherlands, when he saw 11-year-old Eduardo Moreira, who was holding a placard asking for a hug from the Portuguese star.

He scored all three goals as Portugal routed Switzerland in their semi-final, while the Dutch piled more semi-final misery on Gareth Southgate’s England with a 3-1 win after extra time on Thursday.

The 11-year old was diagnosed with blood cancer when he was just one year old and received his first bone marrow transplant as young as 2. He has been fighting leukemia along with the incurable Graft-versus-host disease, which affects his immune system.
