Trump says he could wipe Afghanistan off face of the earth in 10 days

Ahead of a meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, the American President told reporters at the White House that he could win the war in Afghanistan in just one week if he really, really wanted to.

Trump however says that he won’t do that because he doesn’t want millions to die.

“I don’t want to kill 10 million people,” he said. “I have plans on Afghanistan that if I wanted to win that war, Afghanistan would be wiped off the face of the earth, it would be gone, it would be over in literally 10 days.”

He discussed how in April 2017, just over three months into his presidency, the US military dropped the “mother of all bombs” on Afghanistan, killing 36 ISIS fighters. It was the largest non-nuclear bomb ever used on the battlefield.

“They were going to make many of them (MOAB), and I said no,” he said of the bombs. “We don’t have — I don’t want to drop that. I don’t want to do that.”

Afghanistan later in response called for an explanation of comments by the US President Donald Trump.

“The Afghan nation has not and will never allow any foreign power to determine its fate,” the presidential palace said.

“While the Afghan government supports the US efforts for ensuring peace in Afghanistan, the government underscores that foreign heads of state cannot determine Afghanistan’s fate in absence of the Afghan leadership,” it said in a statement.
