J&K: Security forces bust terrorist hideout, recover arms and ammunition in Doda

A team of Rashtriya Rifles and Jammu and Kashmir Police Monday launched a search operation and recovered arms and ammunition at a terrorist hideout in Doda district of Jammu.

The hideout in Madhan-Chanchalu forest in Gandoh area was unearthed during a joint search operation carried out by Special Operations Group (SOG) of local police and troops of 4 Rashtriya Rifles on a specific information, Superintendent of Police (Operations), Doda, R P Singh told PTI.

The recovery include 11 AK rifle magazines, four wireless sets, 581 AK bullets, eight RPG rounds, five SLR magazines, one pistol magazines, one UBGL barrel, one Chinese pistol, one desi katta and other items.

The seized items also include four wireless sets with a spare battery and a charger was also recovered by the search parties, the officer said.

Most of the items had gathered rust, indicating that it was an old hideout and was used by terrorists who operated in the district over a decade ago, said the police official.

No arrests have been made yet and the officer further said that a case had been registered and appropriate investigations were underway.
