Union Minister Smriti Irani stops her convoy during her visit to Amethi to enquire about an ailing woman whom she later admitted to hospital. Smriti Irani stopped and inquired about the lady and learnt that she had met with an accident and was unable to walk.
In the video, Smriti Irani is seen directing her officials to take the woman direct to the district hospital. Soon after, the woman’s relatives are also seen boarding the ambulance.
This is Irani’s first visit to the constituency which she won after defeating Congress chief Rahul Gandhi in the recent Lok Sabha election.
Irani accompanied Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. Smriti Irani was on a two-day visit to meet people at the villages adopted by late Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar. Parrikar had adopted these villages under the National Democratic Alliance government’s ‘village adoption programme.
“I had come to work in Amethi in 2014 too as a worker, I had worked with Surendra Singh for 20-22 days, I knew him very well,” said Pramod Sawant
“A social revolution has taken place in Amethi where people voted for the BJP and gave a message to the nation that democracy has not been made for a ‘namdaar’. There was a time when people in this constituency used to search for their MP. I promise you of serving as a sister and not lawmaker. I have identified a place here and will get my home constructed to live with you all ” Smriti Irani said.
“The district administration has also been instructed to hear grievances of people on a daily basis and resolve their problems within 7 days. No one had imagined that people belonging to a simple family will get an opportunity to serve you all. I will also be working for the development of nearly 4 lakh people who had voted for the Congress party,” she further added.
