On Friday, Ministry of External Affairs of India called off the proposed meeting citing the “deeply disturbing developments” from Pakistan side.
In a statement released on Friday, Pakistan Foreign Ministry said, “By falsely raising the canard of ‘terrorism’, India can neither hide its unspeakable crimes against the Kashmiri people nor can it delegitimize their indigenous struggle for their inalienable right to self-determination”.
On Saturday, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that he is deeply saddened on India’s reversal on peace dialogue. Qureshi said, “It was an opportunity [for progress in bilateral ties, which I think India’s domestic circumstances did not allow to materialize. There is no precedent of how diplomatic norms were trampled”.
India cancelled meeting after a BSF head constable was brutally killed by Pakistani troops in Ramgarh sector along the International Border in Jammu and his body was mutilated. Recently Pakistan also released the stamps of terrorists killed in encounter by Indian security forces in Jammu & Kashmir, including Hizbul commander Burhan Wani.
India has already cleared that terrorism and peace dialogue cannot go together, Pakistan has to show its willingness and seriousness to establish the peace in the region by curbing the terrorist support and should eliminate the roots of terrorists from its soil.
