PM Modi launches BJP’s campaign with ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ tweet
The BJP launched a ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ campaign for the upcoming 2019 elections on Saturday with PM Narendra Modi tweeting a video showing how all Indians are Chowkidars. By doing so, he kick started the 2019 campaign.
“Your Chowkidar is standing firm & serving the nation. But, I am not alone. Everyone who is fighting corruption, dirt, social evils is a Chowkidar. Everyone working hard for the progress of India is a Chowkidar. Today, every Indian is saying-#MainBhiChowkidar’” said the Prime Minister’s twitter handle.
The tweet was accompanied by a 3 minute 45 second video that begins with the PM addressing the people saying, “Your chowkidar is absolutely alert”. The video then consisted of visuals of people from across the country, singing “main bhi chowkidar hun” as part of the chorus of the song.
According to BJP strategists, ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ campaign has been started after extensive surveys and data analysis as they feel that Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s ‘chowkidar chor hai’ jibe and campaign is not resonating among people. The surveys also suggested that it is actually angering people in the country, according to a release.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be seen interacting with people from across the country on March 31 as a part of this campaign. BJP has leveraged a unique tech innovation called conversation cards on twitter for the said campaign. People will get a personalized message from PM on Twitter on participating in this campaign, BJP leaders said.
