Pulwama conspirator killed: Indian Army

The armed forces on Monday claimed that they have killed one of the main conspirators of February 14 Pulwama attack, during an encounter in Tral area of southern Kashmir.

The forces said Mudasir Khan, a local from Midora Tral, and a foreigner, Khalid Bhai, associated with Jaish-e-Mohammed, were killed in the encounter in Pinglish area of Tral.

“Arms and ammunition including assault rifles were recovered from the site of encounter. All these materials have been taken in the case records for further investigation and to probe their complicity in other terror cases,” read a statement issued during an official conference.

Lt General Kanwal Jeet Singh Dhillon, general officer commanding, XV Corps, claimed that Khan was one of the important members of JeM and after February 14 attack, 18 militants were killed, of which 14 were from JeM.

“Mudasir was the main conspirator of the attack on the Pulwama training centre (in 2017) and also the Pulwama convoy attack. He helped, coordinated the Pulwama convoy attack..,” Dhillon said during a press conference.

“The main conspirators (of the Pulwama convoy attack), Kamran and Mudasir, were the main heads of Jaish-e-Mohammad. They have been eliminated. We had gone very forcefully after the Jaish-e-Mohammad in the last three weeks. The aim was to eliminate them at the earliest so that they are not able to carry a Pulwama-like attack again,” he further added.

News agency PTI, quoting officials, reported that Khan had been in constant contact with suicide attacker Adil Ahmed Dar, who was the suicide bomber in the Pulwama attack.

“In 21 days, we have eliminated 18 terrorists, 14 of them from the Jaish-e-Mohammad. Six of them were in the A Plus category,” he said. “Our main emphasis after the February 14 convoy attack was the elimination of the Jaish-e-Mohammad leadership and we have been very successful in doing that.”

“Operations will continue and Army is 100% ready for counter insurgency operations and conventional war as well,” Dhillon said.

Mudasir (25) was a graduate. His name came up after the attack on the CRPF training centre in Pulwama on December 31, 2017. He joined the Jaish-e-Mohammad in January 2018. After the February 14 Pulwama attack, the NIA had conducted searches at his home in Tral.
