Top security, intelligence officials meet at PMO

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, senior officials of the Indian Navy, Army and the Air Force and other security officials met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the latter’s office in the wake of the Pakistan Air Force jets violating the Indian airspace, sources said.

Earlier in the day, a PAF F-16 fighter jet was shot down by Indian air defence forces in Rajouri sector of Jammu region. The aircraft was brought down in Jhangar area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri sector.

Tensions between the two countries have been escalating since February 14 when forty CRPF soldiers were killed in a suicide terror attack by Pakistan-based JeM in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

India recently bombed and destroyed JeM’s biggest training camp in Balakot in Pakistan’s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, about 80-km from the Line of Control (LoC) early Tuesday, killing a “very large number” of terrorists, trainers and senior commanders.
