Trump Accuses Democrats of Leaking Details of Iran Nuclear Strike Flight

In yet another late-night social media salvo, President Donald Trump on Thursday accused Democratic officials of leaking top-secret information about what he described as the “PERFECT FLIGHT” — the covert U.S. air mission targeting Iranian nuclear facilities earlier this month.

“The Democrats are the ones who leaked the information on the PERFECT FLIGHT to the Nuclear Sites in Iran. They should be prosecuted!” Trump wrote on Truth Social on June 27.

While the post did not offer specific names or evidence, it has reignited a politically explosive debate over intelligence handling, national security leaks, and partisan trust inside the executive branch — especially in light of ongoing concerns about how military operations are being disclosed to the public.

Fallout from the Iran mission continues

Trump’s claim appears to refer to the highly classified U.S. operation earlier this month that reportedly deployed advanced stealth bombers to disable Iran’s underground nuclear enrichment facilities at Fordow and Natanz — missions that some former officials have compared to Operation Opera in 1981.

Reports about the mission, including flight patterns and munition details, began trickling into media outlets just days after the operation concluded. Although the Pentagon has neither confirmed nor denied the specifics, independent analysis from The Institute for Science and International Security suggested that satellite imagery shows substantial damage consistent with precision-guided bunker-buster strikes.

Now, Trump appears to be pointing fingers not at foreign adversaries or rogue actors within the military — but at his political opposition.

A familiar theme with higher stakes

To be honest, we’ve seen this pattern before. During his first term, Trump repeatedly accused Democratic lawmakers, particularly those on the House Intelligence Committee, of leaking classified briefings. In 2020, he even revoked briefings for lawmakers following leak allegations — though no charges were ever brought.

What’s different this time is the gravity of what was allegedly leaked. If details of a nuclear site strike were released prematurely, that could — in theory — endanger pilots, compromise future missions, or even invite retaliation.

But again, we’re left in a fog. No specific leak investigation has been announced. No Democratic leader has responded on the record. And the White House press office has, for now, declined comment.

Trust, truth, and turbulence

Leaks are not new to Washington. What’s different under Trump’s renewed presidency is the velocity and intensity with which he weaponizes them.

Whether this latest accusation holds any water is still unknown. But the timing — coming amid escalating tensions with Tehran, and just weeks ahead of NATO’s annual summit — suggests the administration may be setting the stage for both international posturing and domestic political cover.

Because if classified intel was leaked, someone will need to answer for it. But if it wasn’t, the accusation itself may end up doing just as much damage.
