Trump’s attack on media is the greatest threat to our democracy: Retd. US admiral who killed Laden
The United State President Donald Trump suggested that it would be nice if US got Osama bin Laden a lot sooner and said that the retired Navy SEAL and four star admiral William McRaven is a “Hillary Clinton fan” and “Obama backer”. McRaven cited Trump’s media attacks as the greatest threat to democracy.
Trump told Fox news, “Wouldn’t it have been nice if we got Osama bin Laden a lot sooner than that, wouldn’t it have been nice?”
In response to Trump’s remarks McRaven said, “I did not back Hillary Clinton or anyone else. I am a fan of President Obama and President George W Bush, both of whom I worked for. I admire all presidents, regardless of their political party, who uphold the dignity of the office and who use that office to bring the nation together in challenging times”.

McRaven told CNN that Trump’s attack on media is the greatest threat to democracy, “I stand by my comment that the President’s attack on the media is the greatest threat to our democracy in my lifetime”.
He said, “When you undermine the people’s right to a free press and freedom of speech and expression, then you threaten the Constitution and all for which it stands”.
Earlier in an op-ed published in Washington, McRaven said, “Embarrassed us in the eyes of our children, humiliated us on the world stage and, worst of all, divided us as a nation”.
On Trump’s remarks former CIA deputy director Michael Morrell said that McRaven’s forces has nothing to do with locating Osama bin Laden. It was CIA that did the ‘finding’.
