United States’ wrong choices lead to the disaster in the Middle East: Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif
On Sunday, October 28, Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said, to American Network CBS News, that the United States’ choices in the Middle East are wrong and lead to disaster in the region.
Javad Zarif criticized US’ choices to invade Iraq, to attack Afghanistan and bombardment by US supported Saudi led coalition in the poorest country of Arab world, Yemen. He said that Saddam Husain and Taliban were Iran’s enemies but US choices were wrong.
Zarif said, “The United States’ choices in the Middle East are wrong, and these wrong choices lead to the disaster in our region”. He said, “We knew that the invasion of Iraq was the wrong choice, although Saddam Hussein was our enemy. We knew that the attack against Afghanistan was the wrong choice although Taliban were our enemy”.
He added, “We know that the invasion and attack, bombardment of Yemen are wrong choices. But the United States is continuously and persistently on the wrong side”.

Zarif said that if there would not be blanket support by US to Israel and Saudi Arabia then these regimes would not carry out atrocities in the region. He said, “I think the blanket support that the US provides to Saudi Arabia and to Israel has enabled them to carry out atrocities that would not have happened, had there not existed this blanket support”.
