War of words begin between Congress and BJP over Pulwama Attack

A week after a suicide car bomber killed 40 Central Reserve Police Force troopers in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama, the opposition Congress and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) indulged in a dispute over Pulwama Attack.

The war of word has begun between Congress and BJP which has resulted into a political slugfest over the deadliest terror attack. On Twitter, messages were posted with hashtag ‘Modi fails national security’.

The Congress alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had continued to shoot for a documentary in Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand for his propaganda and publicity. Citing media reports, this shoot started the same evening after the attack had taken place on the Jammu-Srinagar highway.

Congress accused BJP of politicising the terror strike. However, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala asked why the Centre had not declared national mourning and continued with political speeches and inaugurations.

Rahul Gandhi posted a tweet linking the Pulwama terror attack with the Rafale fighter deal. “The brave are martyred. Their families struggle. 40 Jawans give their lives but are denied the status of ‘shaheed’. While this man (businessman Anil Ambani) has never given and only taken. He’s gifted Rs 30,000 crore of their money and will live happily ever after. Welcome to Modi’s NEW INDIA.” Rahul Gandhi said.

Reacting to the Congress attack on Modi for going ahead with his scheduled programmes after the Pulwama attack, Ravi Shankar Prasad said the BJP had cancelled all political programmes, including of the prime minister, Modi only went ahead with development exercises.

Modi was in Uttarakhand on the day of the attack in connection with a tiger conservation programme, saying the Congress’s attack on Modi was shameful, Prasad further added.

BJP labeled their allegations by saying that congress have exposed their true colours. Hitting back at the opposition party, the BJP chief said, “With what face is the Congress raising questions against the prime minister? It called the Army chief names, it raised doubts over the surgical strikes, its leader Navjot Singh Sidhu embraced the Pakistan army chief and its previous president cried when terrorists were killed.”
