Latest Update on COVID-19 in India

On Friday, 03 April 2020, Total confirmed cases of COVID-19 reached 2300, with 56 deaths and 157 patients were recovered. 647 confirmed cases reported in last 48 hours are linked to Tablighi Markaz Jamaat.
Today, The President Ram Nath Kovind and Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu held discussions with Governors, LGs and Administrators of States and UTs on COVID-19 response and asked them to advice the religious leaders to not hold any congregation.

Recently Government of India launched a mobile App ‘Arogya Setu’ for COVID-19, that has seen more than 30 Lakh downloads so far. This app enables people to self-assess their risk for catching the virus infection.
On April 03, PM Narendra Modi urged all citizens of country to light candles at 09:00 PM on April 05 for 9 minutes to challenge the darkness of COVID-19 virus and to spread the light of hope. PM Modi also hailed the efforts and discipline of all citizens for their support in making lockdown successful.
In Rajasthan total number of confirmed cases has crossed 166, curfew have been imposed in the areas where new cases were found and the cases are related to Tablighi Jamaat. As of 9:00 AM, total number of COVID-19 cases reported in Punjab was 46.

Government have blacklisted and cancelled the visas of 960 Tablighi Jamaat foreign nationals including 379 Indonesians and 110 Bangladeshis. About 9000 people who visited Jamaat or came into contact with Jamaat attendees have been admitted/ quarantined.
