Lok Sabha Elections 2019 Update, BJP declared 286 candidates

One can feel that the 2019 Lok Sabha elections are just around the corner as we see BJP releasing its second candidate list to Congress and Nationalist Congress Party announcing the seat-sharing formula in Maharashtra.

The Congress will contest on 26 while the NCP will contest on 22 seats in the state. Maharashtra Congress chief Ashok Chavan and senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar said 56 parties and organisations have come together to support the alliance to take on the BJP-Shiv Sena combine.

The BJP has all-in-all declared a total of 286 candidates. It announced Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar from Patna Sahib in Bihar and national spokesperson Sambit Patra from Puri in Odisha. PM Modi will once again contest from Varanasi, while party chief Amit Shah will be contesting the Lok Sabha elections for the first time, from the Gandhinagar constituency in Gujarat, a seat from where Advani won six times in the past.

There were other names such as Shripad Naik from North Goa; Narendra Singh Tomar from Morena;  Janardan Mishra from Reva; and Rakesh Singh from Jabalpur.

The recent list also includes names such as Anurag Thakur from Hamirpur (Himachal Pradesh); Suresh Kashyap from Shimla (Himachal Pradesh); Kishan Kapoor from Kangra (Himachal Pradesh); and Nishikant Dubey from Godda (Jharkhand).

“I will be contesting from Anantnag parliamentary constituency. #LokSabhaElections2019,” tweeted Former J&K CM and PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Union minister Smriti Irani has mocked Congress chief Rahul Gandhi after the reports emerged that people of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala are urging him to contest from their states.

She said in a tweet that, “Amethi ne thukraya, jagah-jagah se buaave ka swang rachaya. Kyuki janata ne thukraya. #BhaagRahulBhaag Sihnsan khaali karo Rahul ji ki janata aati hai.”
