Pakistan shall be punished for its activities that are detrimental to India’s national interest: Army Commander

On Friday, the chief of Army’s Northern Command, Lt Gen Ranbir Singh accused Pakistan for supporting infiltration cross the border and said that Pakistan shall be punished for its activities that are detrimental to our national interest.

On sidelines of a function to facilitate teachers of Army Goodwill School, Lt Gen Singh told PTI, “The message is very clear for the troops on the ground that should Pakistan not stop from carrying out activities, which are detrimental to our national interest along the LoC, they (Pakistan) shall be punished accordingly”.

Lt Gen Singh also cited the sniping incidents from Pakistan side in which Indian soldiers were targeted and said that Indian Army have given a befitting reply of every ceasefire violation done by Pakistan.

He said, “There has been regular sniping incidents from an area along the LoC and we have regularly (lodged) protests with our Pakistani counterparts on their sniping activities. If they have carried out any ceasefire violation, we have given them a befitting reply”.

He said, “as far as infiltration attempts from across the LoC are concerned, Pakistan has continued with its efforts to give impetus to infiltration”.

Lt Gen Singh said, “We have been able to thwart all attempts by Pakistan to push in militants toward our side”. He added, “The security situation in the state’s hinterland is stable, but remains fragile”.

Last week Pakistani snipers targeted Indian soldiers on forward posts in Rajouri and Punch districts along LoC, in which three soldiers and a porter were killed and four others were injured.
